Efstratios Ariges

I had the opportunity to attend the Aregis Family Reunion here in Nashville, TN and
it was incredible. I got to meet Aunts & Uncles I had not seen in 35 years, along with Aunts &
Uncles I don't remember ever meeting. Also found out two (Simone and Danny) actually
live here in the Nashville area. I cannot thank Harold, Ann, and Chip for finding me
through my web site and rekindling long lost relationships. I was able to meet:

Aunt Simone (Aregis) Mitchell
Her son Jimmy Mitchell and wife Cami
Aunt Ann (Aregis & Uncle Harold Smith
Aunt Jean (Aregis) & Uncle Paul Colby
Cousins Debby & PJ (children of Aunt Jean)
Uncle Louis Aregis
Aunt Bella (Aregis) Bewley
Uncle Danny Aregis and his wife Dee and their daughter Dannie

Alice was 17 years old when she married Efstratios who was 20 years her senior.

In 1897 William C. Branham and William Hughes opened a school in Spring Hill. The following year they acquired the property of what had been Spring Hill Male College and in 1905 purchased the old Martin Cheairs place with its 57 acres of land and the mansion. It was given the name "Ferguson Hall" in honor of a relative of the Branhams. Branham and Hughes School became known far and wide as an excellent educational institution. When the Depression hit the country in the 1930s, however, the school was forced to close its doors. In 1934 the property was deeded to the Trustees of Tennessee Orphans Home and became an institution for the care of needy children. The name has been changed to Tennessee Children's Home and today is as an arm of the Churches of Christ.
